Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Caddie Tap is built to collect as little about you as possible. There is no account and no login. By default, your data lives on your device; the only exception is when you choose to create a shareable group round link.
Information the app uses
- Location. While you're using the app, Caddie Tap uses your device's GPS to calculate your distance to the green and to show the aerial view of the hole (via Apple Maps). Your location is processed on your device to provide these features. We do not run servers and do not store or transmit your location to us.
- Your name and optional photo. If you enter a name or set a photo, they are stored only on your device and used to personalize the app and the cards you choose to share. Group round links upload display names and standings, but not profile photos.
- Your scores and round history. Stored on your device so you can review past rounds.
Information we do not collect
- No account, email, or password.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising identifiers, or ads.
- We do not sell or share your personal data. We have no advertising or data-broker relationships.
Third-party services
- Apple. The app is distributed through the App Store / TestFlight and uses Apple Maps (MapKit) to display hole imagery. Your use of those is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap. Golf course information (course names, holes, greens) comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database License.
- Vercel. Caddie Tap's website and optional group round links are hosted on Vercel. A group round link stores the course name, date, hole count, player display names, total scores, and standings so anyone with the link can view the page. Links are unlisted and marked noindex, but they are not password protected.
- Sharing. Ordinary image cards are handed to your device's standard share sheet and sent only to the app or person you choose. Group round shares also create the optional web link described above.
Keeping and deleting your data
Device data can be removed by deleting the app. If you delete a saved round that created a group round link, the app makes a best-effort request to remove that web page too. If a shared link still needs removal, email the link to shawn@stockalarm.io.
Children
Caddie Tap is a general-audience golf app and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the updated version on this page with a new date.
